Demonstration site

Treatment process combination

Two different solar driven in-line electrolysis modules will be installed in and nearby Haridwar. The main feature is the chemical free disinfection and supply of safe drinking water. Both units will receive water, which has been naturally pre-filtrated by river bank filtration (RBF). After a final filtration process using AFM Media, chlorine will be produced in-situ from chloride dissolved in the bank filtered water .

Aims & ambition

  • to highlight the sustainability of the RBF technology with respect to pathogen removal during monsoon and non-monsoon,
  • to demonstrate the robustness, the cost effective operation and the pathogen removal capabilities of in-line electrolysis modules for production of chlorine on-site for water disinfection,
  • to marketing electrolysis modules for the application at RBF sites at different scales,
  • to organise training courses in India to promote European monitoring equipment and disinfection modules
